Payment Service Operator – PSO and Payment Service Provider – PSP in Nepal
According to the reports published by Nepal Rastra Bank, Payment system department as of 18th March, 2021, there are 10 Payment System Operators (PSO) and 27 Payment Service Providers (PSP) in Nepal established in an interval of 4 years (Mids. 2017-2021). Looking into the PSPs of Nepal, the largest one in terms of paid up Capital was IME Pay with Rs. 100 million of paid-up capital but with the announcement of ‘Namaste Pay’ with the paid-up capital of Rs. 400 million, it is in a run to soon take out the first position. The paid up capital for ‘Namaste Pay’ is so far the highest among all the PSPs in Nepal. ‘Namaste Pay’ is a recently announced payment gateway which was approved recently by Nepal Rastra Bank.
